Travel FAQ’s

Below are answers to our most frequently asked questions (FAQs) concerning travel assignments. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us. We’re here 24/7 to answer your questions and serve your professional needs.
A travel nurse takes charge of her career and selects positions based upon her professional development desires and location. The entire country is available with a variety of medical settings and opportunities.
You will be employed by SSI and the expectation is that you will complete the assignment that you have accepted.
Benefits are available to the travel nurse based on needs and requests. Travel experience can be part of the benefits and of course a bonus.

Our staffing professionals, your Placement Coordinator, work with all of our travel nurses to make sure their housing needs are met at their new location. We also have a travel nurse expert for you to consult with should you have any questions. You may handle your own arrangements if you wish to.

Travel employees may be single housing or many employees travel with someone. Pets however are not accepted.

We are available 24/7 to respond to emergencies and to help you while you are on assignment and we can help with any of your housing needs. Contact your local office or the Placement Coordinator assigned to you

The healthcare package depends upon your area of the country. SSI works with Regents Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente.
Licensing and CE is the responsibility of the employee although we make arrangements with the client facilities.
Payroll checks are issued weekly by check. Direct deposit is available.
Yes. As you are an employee of SSI, we handle your withholding taxes and will send you a W2 at the end of the year.
Vacation benefits are not offered although an end of assignment bonus can be issued.
If you would like to work overtime and/or call shifts you will specify this as a preference in your profile and our staffing professionals will locate those positions for you.
